Cirque Act II by Ashleigh Giannoccaro

Reviewed by: TBBManiac Sian

Without my box I can’t be me
Kidnapped by a clown close to the sea
He’s torn inside where one equals two
One I hate, the other I love true

Secrets and lies become alibis
Sivan is damaged, it’s in his eyes
Riddles unravel when you know who masters
Now Imogene’s only home is Masters

An eye playing spy held me together
When I broke, he broke, two ends of frayed tether
We’re joined by the past like twin souls in hell
Innocent angels molested, and fell

I escaped it, but need to go back.
To love the man with his face painted black.
The circus is known for its eternal magic
Our tent of freedom is simply tragic.

Once a little girl fell, then she fell for me
I’m a fool, and she’s a fool for me
There’s a clown inside us all; a purpose
But this life, it’s all just a circus.

Note: This book has adult themes and is not suitable for anyone under 18.

What can I actually say about Cirque Act II and Ashleigh Giannoccaro; its fabulously talented author. Giannoccaro published Cirque Act I that painted a picture; or rather a clown; in a light that I didn’t think a clown COULD be painted in. It enticed the soul and introduced me to a world that I never knew could exist. I didn’t think anything could top Act I. Then Giannoccaro sent me Act II. If Act I was a non-stop thrill ride delving into the dark recesses of the human psyche; human behaviour and passion then Act II is the climax of the most passionate night a person can have. It has all the greatest things that a book should have – suspense; darkness; horror; redemption…. Giannoccaro has outdone herself this time around!

Delve back into the world of the circus with Sivan and Imogene Giannoccaro takes you to places you didn’t think your soul could travel. If anything else her books in this 2 part series have given me a new sense of adventure in terms of reading. Where I would have shied from books like Cirque because I thought they lacked talent or a plot; I am know interested in expanding my collection in this genre – starting with the balance of Giannoccaro’s books before I start systematically finding the other talented authors in the series.

Giannoccaro  gives you a dark; erotic tale that is so much more than just a couple of sexy scenes thrown together with a few bits of dialogue. Oh no no no! She gives you a very realistic account of what it is like to survive the scars of a dark childhood and how it filters into every single aspect of your life as an adult. There just aren’t enough words in any language to describe how talented a writer Giannoccaro is and if you haven’t already (and if you’re the appropriate age) give this series a go and thank me later.
